Huerfano County Democrats get together the first Wednesday of every month. We are continuing to focus on a need in the community that we can support at each monthly meeting. This month we are collecting food and funds to help DORCAS as they work to fill the gap created by loss of SNAP benefits. Our No Kings event was a HUGE Success! Thanks to everyone who turned out and helped out. We appreciate our local Press and Colorado Public Radio showing up and also the support of local law enforcement. Hopefully our next event will draw even larger crowds. We are in the middle of School Board Elections in both RE-1 Walsenburg and RE-2 La Veta. The RE-1 election has three openings and four candidates. After the ballots were sent, a board member, Sadie Wardell, resigned. The timing is telling. If it would have been public sooner, all four candidates would have been seated and it would not have been on the ballot.
